Children are welcome at all Calvary worship services. There also are some special options for children during worship.
Children's
Chapel
Children's Chapel is a wonderful opportunity for children to experience
the "Liturgy of the Word" in an easy to understand, story
format. Children ages three through 1st grade participate
in a number of ways, such as listening; responding to the story,
song,
and prayer; collecting an offering; and participating in art activities
(when time permits). Of great importance is the emphasis
placed on children's participation and self-control in preparation
for their
emerging role in the larger worship services.
At the beginning of the 9:00 a.m. service, children follow the cross out of the church to Children’s Chapel, which is located on the second floor education wing, Room 203. Children are escorted into church at the time of the Peace to join their families for Communion. We encourage parent participation in Children's Chapel, so come, experience this very special worship time.
Tote bags, filled with crayons and children's bulletins based on the day's Gospel reading, are available at the church entrances on Sunday mornings. These age-appropriate worksheets are a way to help children understand the day's scripture. Also, look for the "Episcodoodles" notepads located in the pews.
Calvary maintains an excellent nursery facility
for children ages five and under. Located on the first floor
in the Orgill Room, the nursery is staffed by trained, professional
caregivers, most of whom are employed by Calvary Place, the on premises
day care center that has been awarded the prestigious three-star
rating
by the State of Tennessee. The loving atmosphere, personal
attention and age-appropriate toys and activities are designed to
make the nursery
a safe, nurturing place for your child while you are at Calvary for
worship, classes and fellowship. In order to make the nursery experience
even better, we provide a paging system for your use. You can
then enjoy your worship or class experience with the peace of mind
that you will be notified if the nursery or your child needs you.
Please take the time to fill out a child care registration form so
that we may better meet the needs of your child while they are in
our care. Register
here.
When children become upset during church, parents may choose to help their children find peace in the church library on the second floor. Children's books are available, and a speaker connected to the church audio system allows parents and children to continue listening to the service.
